SRI TRIKUTESHWARA TEMPLE The beautifully carved '''Trikuteshwara temple''', loacted in [[Gadag]] 50km south east of [[Hubli]] is dedicated to Shiva has three lingams mounted on the same stone. There is a shrine dedicated to Saraswathi in this temple and it has beautifully worked columns. The temple dates back to the [[Kalyani Chalukyas]] who ruled this region around 1050 to 1200 CE during which about 50 temples were built. Shri Trikuteshwara is the patern Diety of GADAG. The temple was built by the early Chalukyas between 6th to 8th Centuries. The temple bear rich evidence of the grandeur of Chalukya architecture. To a visitor, a visit to this architectural beauty is a must. SHRI SARASWATI TEMPLE The SARASWATI temple is the temple of Goddess of learning. It is a marvelous structure with its fine architectural beauty. The architecture is characterised by marvelous intricacy and artistic finish is the minutest detail which one has to see to believe. |

Gadag Betageri is an important segment of North Karnataka, situated to the east of Dharwad district, bounded by Kappatagiri in the South-West and is placed about 2120 feet above sea level. The city averages a rainfall of 663.7 mm an year, having a dry climate, with temperatures ranging from 13 to 40°Celsius. According to the inscriptions the name was derived from Galadug , Kaladurga , Karedurga , Karthuka, Kritapur , whereas Betageri from Battakeri and Bettagere . The Rastrakuta , Chalukya and Vijayanagara dynasty ruled the city. Gadag Betageri developed as a separate political and commercial centre since the period of Rashtrakuta . |
